Mobile Locksmith

Summary:

Under general supervision, installs, maintains, and repairs locks, key systems, and door hardware, including door closers, panic hardware systems and electronic locking systems; recombinate and adjust locks, coding, key cutting and duplication.

Duties and Responsibilities:
  1. Open locks by use of lockpicking tools, dismantling or other methods; repair locks by replacement of worn or broken parts or by adjustment or recombination of locks to the master / submaster system in use.
  2. Open a locked door without a key.
  3. Interprets Master Keying Guide; uses appropriate discretion and special knowledge of lock systems to preserve the integrity of master key systems while meeting customer requests.
  4. Determine methods to be used, including but not limited to key cutting and duplication, adjusting or changing key combinations and recombinating any lock system; update written key records as required.
  5. Installs, services, and repairs various types of locks and security devices.
  6. Installs and repairs door hardware and pneumatic closing fixtures.
  7. Cuts new or duplicate keys and stamps with identification.
  8. Determine proper methods to be used in key cutting and duplication.
  9. Maintains records of work performed.
  10. Ensures proper care in the use and maintenance of equipment and supplies; promotes continuous improvement of workplace safety and environmental practices.
  11. Troubleshoots, repairs, and maintains electronic key card systems.
  12. Repair, maintain and change safe and vault combinations.
  13. Use computer programs for keying and specification writing.
  14. Perform time and material estimates for repairs and renovation projects.
  15. Adjust key cutting machine to .003 of an inch.
  16. Teach and mentor other locksmiths.
  17. Performs miscellaneous job-related duties as assigned.
Minimum Job Requirements:

High school diploma or GED; at least 1 year of experience that is directly related to the duties and responsibilities specified.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities Required:
  • Ability to install/repair/maintain all types of major locks.
  • Ability to install/repair door closures and panic hardware systems in accordance with work orders and instructions.
  • Be able to open locks by use of lockpicking tools.
  • Records maintenance skills.
  • Ability to implement pre-defined master key systems.
  • Skill in utilizing building security and lock systems and procedures.
  • Ability to cut keys, re-key, install and repair locks and hardware.
  • Ability to read, understand, follow, and enforce safety procedures.
  • Skill in the use of computers, preferably in a PC, Windows-based operating environment.
  • Ability to update key records on paper and computer.
  • Ability to make administrative/procedural decisions and judgments.
  • Ability to use hand and power tools applicable to trade.
  • Ability to drive a van.

Alarm Installer

Summary:

Under limited supervision, performs, coordinates, and oversees the maintenance and installation of alarm and security systems. Leads, trains, and coordinates the day-to-day work of technical staff and/or subcontractors. Prepares estimates and customer proposals, and interfaces with clients to ensure customer satisfaction. Performs associated administrative duties.

Duties and Responsibilities:
  1. Consults with customers regarding system needs; prepares estimates and customer proposals; prepares billings and reports.
  2. Installs and maintains fire, security, alarm, and special systems.
  3. Programs alarm system panels and central station system.
  4. Maintains records of work performed.
  5. Ensures proper care in the use and maintenance of equipment and supplies; promotes continuous improvement of workplace safety and environmental practices.
  6. Performs miscellaneous job-related duties as assigned.
Minimum Job Requirements:

High school diploma or GED; at least 1 year of experience that is directly related to the duties and responsibilities specified.

Safe Technician

Summary:

Under limited supervision, performs, coordinates, installs and repairs safes and vault doors in banks and other establishments. Installs vault doors and deposit boxes in banks, according to blueprints, using equipment, such as powered drills, taps and dies, and truck crane and dolly. Removes, repairs, adjusts, and reinstalls safes, vault doors, vault compartments, hinges, and other vault and safe equipment, using handtools and other machines and equipment, such as lathes, drill presses, and welding and acetylene cutting apparatus. Tests and repairs locks and locking devices. Removes interior and exterior finishes and sprays on new finishes.

Duties and Responsibilities:

  3. Maintain the accounts receivables and payables in an orderly fashion.
  4. Contact with customers to collect bills or answer questions about their bills.
Minimum Job Requirements:

  3. Calls customers back to ensure their satisfaction.
  4. Maintains public relations with the customers.
Minimum Job Requirements:

High school diploma or GED or satisfactory equivalent.
